Spectacular video of Flying Mobula Rays

We couldn’t help but share this spectacular BBC video of a large aggregation of Mobula rays leaping from the air. Various theories suggest the rays exhibit this behaviour to attract a mate, communicate a nutrient-rich area or cleanse themselves of parasites.

This is a common phenomena with ray species; in Komodo National Park and Raja Ampat, our private yacht charter clients have reported sightings of Manta rays (and even mammoth Oceanic Manta rays) soaring into the air and landing with an epic splash - a particularly incredible sight when diving.
