A private yacht charter in Indonesia is planned long before anyone steps aboard. The yacht, the route, the season and the people travelling all shape one another, and the best journeys come from getting those four in balance. This is how we do it.
1. Begin with a conversation
Every charter starts with a call or an email, not a booking form. We want to understand who is travelling, what they love, and what they hope the journey will feel like. A family with young children needs something different from a group of divers, and a honeymoon needs something different again.
We will always tell you honestly what will work, and what will not, even when that means suggesting a different yacht, a different month or a different part of the archipelago.
2. Choose the season and the waters
Indonesia is a year-round destination, but its seas follow the monsoons. Komodo is at its best from May to October. Raja Ampat comes into its own from November to April. Between them lie the Spice Islands, Alor, Triton Bay, Halmahera and Morotai, which the yachts reach on the crossings as the seasons turn.

Where to go
Raja Ampat: At the western tip of West Papua, Raja Ampat holds the richest reefs on earth: more than 1,500 species of fish, manta rays, turtles and coral gardens that run from the surface into deep blue water. Above the waterline, limestone islets rise from emerald lagoons, and the climbs to Piaynemo and Wayag look out over a maze of islands. Villages are few and far apart, and the welcome in each is warm. With little infrastructure and few visitors, it is a place of real solitude.
Komodo National Park: In East Nusa Tenggara, Komodo is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the dragons still walk the savannah. A morning might begin with a ranger-led walk to see them, then a climb to the summit of Padar for the view across three bays, and an afternoon on the pink sand of Pink Beach. Below the surface, cold currents bring manta rays to the channels at Karang Makassar, and the reefs hold turtles, reef sharks, dolphins and fine macro life.
Beyond the usual routes. Between and beyond these two lie the places most charters never reach: the Spice Islands, where nutmeg once shaped world trade; the Alor archipelago, with its clear water and traditional villages; Triton Bay in West Papua; and Halmahera and Morotai in the far north.
3. Find the right yacht
We work with 30 yachts across three collections, and every one has been inspected in person by our team. Ultimate is for those expecting the very top level. Within each collection, the right choice depends on the details: how the cabins are arranged, how a crew looks after children, which yachts dive well, and which ones sail rather than motor. This is where first-hand knowledge counts.
4. Shape the route
Once the yacht is chosen, we plan the journey around tides, currents and the time of day, so that guests have the islands to themselves. Days can hold a drift dive along a coral wall, a walk to a ridge at sunrise, a picnic on an empty beach, or nothing at all.
Nearly half of our charters are nine nights or more, and our longest journey has run to forty nights. Shorter charters are possible too, and we will advise on what works for your route.
5. Confirm the booking
A deposit secures the yacht and dates, and you receive a charter agreement and a full overview of the journey. Client payments are made through UIY, and for a new yacht, funds are held until we have inspected her ourselves.

For Christmas, Easter and the summer holidays, we suggest booking six to twelve months ahead. Shorter notice is often possible outside those weeks.
6. Plan the days before and after
Many guests add time on land: a cliff-top villa in Uluwatu, a few days in Ubud, a private arrival at the airport. We arrange these alongside the charter, so the whole journey reads as one.
7. Step aboard
Charters begin in Labuan Bajo for Komodo, in Sorong for Raja Ampat, or in Bali, depending on the route. From the first conversation to the final night, the same team stays with you, in touch with the crew throughout.
What is included
The charter rate covers meals, excursions, water sports, diving for certified guests, national park fees, fuel and local transfers. Alcohol, travel insurance and gratuities are usually additional. Each yacht’s page sets out its own inclusions.
