Embarking on a luxury yacht cruise from Bali to Komodo National Park promises an unforgettable journey through the Indonesian archipelago. As one of our all-time favourite routes, this maritime adventure includes the serene beauty of Bali, the marine wonders of Saleh Bay, fiery volcanoes, the pristine north coast of Sumbawa, and the awe-inspiring islands of Komodo National Park.

Boarding Your Yacht in Bali

Our voyage begins in Bali, the famed Island of the Gods. As the yacht sets sail from Benoa Harbor, you are greeted by the warm breeze and panoramic views of Bali’s lush landscapes. Relax on the deck with a cocktail in hand, basking in the golden hues of the setting sun as the yacht heads East.

Lombok and the Gili Islands

This stretch of water between Bali and Lombok marks a very important ecological boundary, first described by Sir Alfred Russel Wallace, the British naturalist. He noticed that the flora and fauna of the west are home to Asiatic animal and plant species. In contrast, the islands to the east of that “line” are more similar to species found in Australia. The Gili islands comprise Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air – a haven for castaways with powder sand bordered by coconut palm and crystalline waters.

Magical Moyo Island

This morning, the yacht will be at Moyo. Moyo Island is a pristine national park edged with flourishing tropical reefs, with a lush jungle interior home to macaques, wild cattle, wild pigs, barking deer and all manner of bird species. Here, you may visit a village home to a Bajo tribe (known as sea-gipsies), witness traditional music and dance performances, or trek to beautiful waterfalls hidden at the island’s forested heart.

Whale Sharks of Saleh Bay

Saleh Bay, where the waters are known for hosting majestic whale sharks. The local squid fishermen here have noticed an increase in these gentle giants visiting their grounds to feed on the small fry that escapes the squid nets. This is a paradise for marine enthusiasts, an opportunity to snorkel or dive alongside these gentle giants, witnessing their grace and grandeur in their natural habitat. It’s a humbling experience to share the water with these magnificent creatures, creating memories for you and your family that will last a lifetime.

Surreal Satonda

As the yacht gracefully glides through the cerulean waters, our next destination is the enchanting Satonda Island. The saltwater crater lake of Satonda was created by the great Mt Tambora volcano, which erupted in 1815—one of the biggest eruptions in history. The island is a haven for those seeking tranquillity, with opportunities for leisurely walks, bird watching, and absorbing the mystical atmosphere that permeates this volcanic wonder. At sunset, you’ll see bats flocking into the orange skies on their nightly hunting jaunt.

Sail Along Sumbawa

Continuing our journey, the yacht charts a course along the pristine north coast of Sumbawa, offering guests a glimpse of untouched beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and local fishing villages. The region’s rich marine biodiversity makes it an ideal spot for diving and snorkelling, with the chance to explore hidden underwater gems teeming with colourful marine life.

Navigating Komodo

The crown jewel of our seafaring odyssey is the renowned Komodo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to the iconic Komodo Dragons. The yacht’s course meanders through this archipelago, stopping at various dive sites that beckon enthusiasts with their vibrant coral gardens and diverse marine ecosystems.

Padar Island

Set between Rinca and Komodo in the park’s central region lies the picturesque island of Padar. A sheltered bay on the island’s southeast side makes for a beautiful anchorage in the shadow of dramatic craggy peaks. Central Komodo’s nutrient-rich waters attract shoals of schooling fish on reefs renowned as some of the best in Indonesia. This bay is wonderful for watersports, relaxing on the beach or a tender cruise into the mangroves to spot birdlife.

Come Face to Face With Dragons

A highlight for every visitor to Komodo National Park is witnessing the prehistoric Komodo Dragons, the monkey population, and an array of birdlife in their natural habitat. Our local expert guides accompany guests on a trek through the rugged landscapes of Rinca or Komodo Island, offering a unique opportunity to observe these mythical creatures up close.

Dive Sites and Underwater Wonders

For avid divers, the journey through Komodo National Park presents many world-class dive sites. From the famous Batu Bolong with its swirling currents and vibrant coral walls to the Manta Alley, where encounters with graceful manta rays are almost guaranteed, the underwater world here is a kaleidoscope of colours and marine life. Snorkelers can also enjoy the underwater beauty, exploring shallow reefs teeming with tropical fish.

As the yacht continues the final cruise towards Labuan Bajo, guests are reminded of a maritime adventure that seamlessly blends opulence with natural wonders. From the gentle giants of Saleh Bay to the fiery beauty of Satonda volcano, the pristine shores of Sumbawa, and the awe-inspiring Komodo National Park, this cruise offers a sensory feast for those seeking an unparalleled exploration of Indonesia’s coastal treasures. An Indonesian odyssey that is best done by luxury private yacht.
